Abstract
- The article comments on an article within this issue on the use of peripherally inserted central cathetertools (PICCs) in the management of patients with hematological disorders. PICCs have been have been regularly used as central catheters for the many years for hospitalized patients. PICCs act as central catheters, allowing both drug infusion and blood sampling. However PICCs may also lead to complications such as catheter-related deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and catheter-related sepsis.
