Abstract

The article discusses the strong performance of bonds in comparison to stocks. While some believe this suggests stocks have become attractively priced, others think depressed stock prices reflect pessimism about the U.S. economy. A decline in private-sector borrowing could bode ill for the economy, and hence stocks.
