Abstract

This paper attempts to investigate the time dependence of the U.H.F. power from the expanding return stroke channel of a lightning discharge at a typical central temperature of 14 000degreesK anti at one and two centimetre radii of the return stroke channel. It is found that the emitted power decays with time as the return stroke channel cools down. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimentally obtained values of various workers.
