Abstract

The article discusses the financial aid programs for college education in the U.S. It says that low income is one of the hindrances for college enrollment wherein the government spent 2.5 trillion dollars budget for student grants. It states that effective financial aid policies were identified to enhance college enrollment and options including the information and design of a policy, focus on need-based awards, and loan terms. It mentions legislations that lessen the needs of the students like the federal Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act signed on March 30, 2010 which increases the budget for Pell Grant, the biggest need based grant program. Also discussed is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) general aid application process.
