Abstract

The article discusses a study which investigated the interaction between Rho kinase (ROCK) and transcription factor SOX9. Study authors transfected human SWI353 chondrosarcoma cells with constructs coding for RhoA, ROCK, Lira kinase and SOX9. They examined the interaction between ROCK and SOX9 on purified proteins. They found that SOX9 contains a consensus phosphorylation site for ROCK, and that ROCK directly phosphorylated SOX9.
