Abstract

This paper aims to study the poetry of some of the leading contemporary feminist poets in the Philippines today. Using selected well-known works of Ruth Elynia S. Mabanglo, Joj Barrios, Benilda S. Santos, Rebecca Añonuevo, Grace Monte de Ramos, Mila D. Aguilar, and Virginia Moreno, the paper aims to show that feminist poetry is not only for the emancipation of women but also of men. For the author, the patriarchal system oppresses both gender, although on different types and levels. Intended or not, the efforts offeminist poets to expose this system may also lead to the dissolution of the burdens given to men. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
