Abstract

Improvisation plays a significant role in almost all aspects of my process as a designer, from staying open to possibilities and surprises that emerge during discussions with directors and other collaborators and even while I am building a maquette, to being a designer in the room during dramaturgical and production workshops, to using improvisation as a tool when instigating my own performance installations. My personal interest and development as an artist involves the pursuit of finding new methods of creating and designing during the process of theatremaking and inherently relies on my ability to improvise with collaborators.
