Properties of photoreduction reaction of cytochrome b559 in photosystem II membrane fragments.

The article presents a study that examines the characteristics of photoreduction reaction of cytochrome b559 in photosystem 2 (PS 2) membrane preparations. It states that chemical oxidation of reduced cytochrome was made through removing 5 mM potassium ferricyanide and pelleting membrane fragments by centrifugation. It reveals that rapid autooxidation of part of photoreduced cytochrome in the dark, results to low amplitude of cytochrome b559 reduction.
