Abstract: The author considers the literary translations of author Franz Kafka's work. He highlights the Czech and Austrian influences on Kafka's writing. He explains Kafka's understanding of literary translations. He claims that Kafka's involvement with translation extends beyond linguistic issues to questions regarding the association between German and Jewish traditions.
