Abstract

The article discusses a study which investigated the effectiveness of misoprostol as an adjunct to standard uterotonics for treating post-partum haemorrhage. The efficacy of the drug was compared with standard uterotonics alone. The study involved women who delivered vaginally and who had clinically diagnosed post-partum haemorrhage because of uterine atony from several countries including Argentina, Egypt, and Thailand. The researchers found that misoprostol was associated with shivering, high body temperature and vomiting.
