Abstract

The article discusses how to handle common foaling complications and injuries. Speed of delivery and air supply are crucial to save the foal if it is coming out backward. Uterine lavage can be considered when a normal mare has retained its placenta as soon as the mare has been examined. To treat hemorrhage in mare during late pregnancy and after parturition, it is considered important to keep the animal quiet in a dark stall and keep it sedated.
