Abstract

The article discusses the endoscopy-linked transmission of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae producing KPC-2 beta-lactamase. Researchers found that all Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) isolates were identical to a previously determined Klebsiella pneumoniae ST258-type clone that became an epidemic in Greece. The article details the case study of an 85-year-old individual suffering from bladder cancer who incurred an extended-spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL).
