Abstract
- The article focuses on key problems that occur in successful software product lines (SPL) over extended periods of time. These problems are coordination overhead, slow release cycles, and high system-level error density. Coordination overhead happens when there are decreasing amounts of time dedicated to add value to the SPL's products and shared assets. Slow release cycles means the release frequency slows to a point below the market speed. It is noted that discovery of errors during the integration stage causes high system-level error density.
