Abstract

Chapter 74 of the book "Esophageal Cancer: Principles and Practice," edited by Blair A. Jobe, Charles R. Thomas, and John G. Hunter is presented. It discusses the significance of transhiatally extended total gastrectomy in treating patients with esophageal cancer. The adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (AEG) and its surgical approach was dominated by confusion on its tumors. The technical details of transhiatally extended total gastrectomy for AEG tumors are also presented.
