Abstract

The article discusses the importance for primary teachers and administrators to understand aspects of dyslexia to better identify at risk students in the classroom in the U.S. It states that failure of identifying dyslexic in the classroom will give teachers difficulty in teaching them to read proficiently. The scientific research indicates that instruction based on Orton-Gillingham principles is proven effective to teach students with dyslexia to read.
