Abstract

The article discusses the polymer bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells that provide renewable energy sources due to their unique features. The use of the donor-acceptor structures has become an effective strategy for getting low-band-gap polymers and regulating their electronic properties. The thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione (TPD) unit and related derivatives can be effectively applied to adjust the optical and electronic properties of conjugated polymers.
