Abstract

The article discusses Internet industry company Google Inc.'s efforts to expand into the field of so-called "social media" such as online social networks and microblogs. The company's 2006 advertising marketing agreement with online social network MySpace did not prove profitable, and its attempts to create social media under its own brand have had mixed results. The problem of translating the company's technology to social media are considered.
