Abstract

The article focuses on how climate change affects Canadian Prairies. Environment Canada cites that insufficient water supply due to climate change may cause 10%-30% drop in crop yields across the Prairies. It mentions that warmer temperatures also cause the melting of glaciers, diminish of snowpacks in Rocky Mountains and increase evaporation of soil moisture in Prairies. Moreover, it states that climate change also affects river flow which may put Prairie aquatic species at risk of extirpation.
