Abstract

The written language is important to the deaf's because of their difficulty in developing speech. As the oral cues are directly involved in the textual cohesion, this research aimed to investigate the occurrence of discoursive marks (DM) in the deaf's writing. The sample of the research was composed by fifteen oralized-deaf's, fifteen non-oralized-deaf's and fifteen listeners, who answered a questionnaire. The results showed a major use of DM, especially those with sequential function, by oralized-deaf's and listeners, in spite of their use by the non-oralized deaf's. To conclude, the occurrence of speaking/writing relation in these subjects, specially the oralized ones, and of orality influence over text structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
