Abstract
- In this article the author discusses the Falkland Islands, the casus belli of a war between Great Britain and Argentina in the 1980s. He rejects the notion that the issue of the Falkland Islands be adjudicated by the United Nations, a plan advocated by Hillary Clinton, the U.S. secretary of state, declaring that the islands must remain in British hands. Provided in the article is a brief recap of the negotiations between Margaret Thatcher, the British prime minister, Nicolas Ridley, her foreign minister, and the Argentines.
