Abstract

The article focuses on the process of calculating bearing stress. It informs that it is necessary to find the endurance limit of the bearing material to avoid wallowing, the elongation of a hole towards the load on a mating plate. The endurance limit produces different results. It informs that using a material's endurance limit help engineers to avoid wallowing. The endurance limit uses empirical evidence to adjust a material's tensile strength through a series of knockdowns. It also informs that material properties change significantly with temperature.
