Abstract

The article discusses a randomised trial which tested the hypothesis on the link between myocardial salvage and remote ischaemic conditioning during evolving ST-elevation myocardial infarction before primary percutaneous coronary intervention. The study involved 333 consecutive adult patients with suspected first acute myocardial infarction, who received remote conditioning before hospital admission. The researchers concluded that myocardial salvage could be increased by remote ischaemic conditioning before hospital admission and could serve as a complement to angioplasty.
