Abstract

The article reports on the risk that Welsh farmers could loss 35 million pounds from their subsidies until clear rules on dual claims for farmland are set prior to the Glastir farm management scheme implementation in 2012, says Country Land and Business Association Wales chairman Ross Murray. It will replace the Tir Gofal and Tir Cynnal schemes. He notes that farmers are concerned that the European Union will classify dual claims in which a tenant receives single farm payment (SFP) while the landowner receives agri-environmental payment as illegal.
