Abstract

The article presents the author's views on the role of genetics in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). According to the author, at least 15 genes with a large number of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on them are associated with the development of AMD. The author says that these SNPs play an important role in the development of both AMD and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV).
