Abstract

The article presents the views of farmers in Great Britain on whether the age of 60 is too old for farming. Matthew Naylor believes that agriculture requires a good balance of age groups and orderly succession between generations. James Peck views that elders should be encouraged to welcome the younger generation and that knowledge and skills from the past be retained to grow a family farming business. Michael Seals opines that continuing as a farmer at 60 does not stifle the opportunities for youth to take responsibility of a farming business.
