Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the origins of extra virgin olive oil through gas chromatography-combustion-isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC-C-IRMS). The study examines six bottles of extra olive oil from different countries and applied linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) to the carbon isotopes results. The result shows the statistical difference of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) in oils in carbon isotopes.
