Abstract

The article presents a study which evaluates the racial disparities on the use of radiotherapy (RT) after breast-conserving surgery (BCS) in the U.S. It states that the researchers identify beneficiaries treated with BCS in 2003 using a national Medicare database. The results show that whites are more likely to receive RT than blacks. It concludes that racial disparities in the use of RT after BCS were identified and that overcoming these disparities will improve cancer care.
