Abstract

The article focuses on the creation of a diversity outreach librarian through collaboration of the University of Minnesota (UM) Libraries and Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE). It states that the UM Libraries seek to increase their multicultural outreach efforts parallel to the realignment of the Office for Equity and Diversity (OED) in response to their mission. It says that the diversity outreach librarian develops the programs that extend library collections and services to traditionally underrepresented populations in partnership with faculty and other campus professionals. It mentions that time management is the biggest drawback to the partnership, in which there was a bit of overlapping between University Libraries and MCAE in providing outreach.
