Abstract

The article presents a study which evaluates the outcomes of stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) in elderly patients with stage I nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) at the VU University Medical Center, Amsterdam, Netherlands. At least 193 patients aged -75 years were evaluated where 80% were considered as medically inoperable and 20% declined surgery. SRT was well tolerated and almost all completed the treatment. The survival rates at one year is 86% whereas at 3 years is 45%.
