Abstract
- The article focuses on an approach used by a research team in the U.S. which combines data gathered by high technology monitoring tools, such as radar, sonar and robotic gliders, with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) surveys to get a better idea of where fish live. It cites the use of such tools by the Coastal Ocean Observation Laboratory (COOL) at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey to gather real-time data on what is happening in the ocean. The NOAA collects data through its semi-annual bottom trawl survey.
