Abstract

The author discusses the need to create guidelines for circumcision in Great Britain. She states that circumcision is a form of genital mutilation and grievous bodily harm. She cites the Tattooing of Minors Act that prohibits the tattooing of persons under 18 years old even with parental consent, which should be applied to circumcision. She also mentions the health argument on circumcision which is the low incidence of contracting the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in circumcised males.
