PAKISTAN: MILITANCY, THE TRANSITION TO DEMOCRACY AND FUTURE RELATIONS WITH THE UNITED STATES.

This essay provides an overview of Pakistan's political history, its transition to democracy and future relations with the U.S. It discusses the struggle of Pakistan and the U.S. to build a partnership to achieve their respective geostrategic and security goals and emphasizes the need to stabilize civilian rule, eliminate terrorism and to contain nuclear proliferation. It also argues over the significance of U.S. military relations, strategic partnership and support to Pakistan's political power struggle to consolidate a multi-party democracy.
