Abstract
- The article reports on the emergence of the exit plan of the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) as it uses fewer tools to promote economic recovery. It notes that some programs, such as loans to investment banks in the securities industry and commercial-paper loans will expire in February 2010. According to Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, they have several programs to try to keep down interest rates. The reason why Fed officials are hesitant to sell down their mortgage-backed securities is explained.
