Abstract

The article reveals the changing face in Beijing, China's metropolitan roads as it has lost its reputation as the kingdom of bicycles with automobiles clogging its streets. The Beijing Municipal Government Publicity Office has reported the number of cars added to Beijing's roads, where about 2,000 cars are being purchased daily. The car boom has negated Beijing's traffic control measures such as the drive-time restrictions based on last digit license plate numbers and the number of new roads being built to accommodate traffic.
