Abstract

The article discusses the foreign policy of the U.S. during the administration of U.S. President George H. W. Bush. Some of the events discussed include the end of the Cold War, the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the unification of Germany, the Persian Gulf War, the U.S. decision to remove Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega from power, the diplomatic negotiations for the North American Free Trade Agreement, the political protests at Tiananmen Square in China, the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to include former communist countries, and the end of militant hostilities in El Salvador. The author also discusses the historiography of Bush's administration, the character and personality of Bush, and his vision regarding foreign policy.
