Abstract

The article reports on a research by Justin B. Ries and colleagues at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill regarding the effects of CO2 to shelled sea creatures like lobsters and clams. It states that acidification caused varying reactions such as the calcium carbonate of clams diminished while lobsters' bulked up. Moreover, Ries adds that creatures that benefit may not prosper at all.
