Abstract

The article details a study which examined if creatinine clearance can be estimated by clearance of gentamicin/tobramycin and non-invasive estimates in the intensive care unit. The study included 100 patients in the intensive care unit whose renal function were examined. Study authors concluded that gentamicin/tobramycin is a good estimate of creatinine clearance. However, they noted that two-hour urine and MDRD4 estimates should not be applied in the intensive care unit.
