Abstract

A new species of atyid shrimp, Caridina alba sp. nov., is described and illustrated based on specimens collected from Tenglongdong cave, Hubei Province, China. This new species is characterized by a short rostrum with a small number of teeth, highly reduced eyes, the shape and relative lengths of the pereiopodal segments, the spination of the posterior telsonic margin, and the uropodal diaeresis. The morphology of the species in relation to other species is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
