- The article reports on the statement made by Canada that it will dominate the 2010 Winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia. It notes that Canada has never placed first in any Winter Games and has failed to win a gold medal during its hosting of the 1976 Montreal Games in Quebec and the 1988 Calgary Winter Games in Alberta. It cites the move of the nation to allocate 120 million Canadian dollars in training money for athletes and to launch an effort to improve equipment.
