NECESSITY OF NEW LAYERED APPROACH TO NETWORK SECURITY.

Security solutions for networks typically appear as single products or protocols that correspond to a single or few layers of the OSI network reference model (protocol stack). The result is a wide variety of protocols and products, which provide solutions to very specific problems and environments. In this paper, defense-in-depth strategy is analyzed and it's introduced the need for layered architecture for secure networks.
