Abstract
- The article discusses the requirement at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania in which students who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) above 30 must enroll in a one-credit course called "Fitness for Life" before graduating. Students can satisfy the requirement if they earn a BMI below 30 or by passing a sports course. The legal ramifications of this requirement are discussed by Peter F. Lake, the director of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy at Stetson University.
