Abstract

The article focuses on two broadcasters known as Axis Sally, who worked for Nazi Germany during the World War II. The broadcasters were former U.S. showgirl Mildred Gillars who broadcast from Berlin, Germany and Italian American Rita Luisa Zucca who broadcast from Rome, Italy. The two women were charged of treason by the U.S. government for broadcasting German propaganda against Allied soldiers. The U.S. Justice Department decided that Zucca could not be prosecuted for treason because she renounced her U.S. citizenship in 1941.
