Abstract: The article relates the concerns of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency of Great Britain over the growing popularity of over-the-counter fetal heart rate monitoring devices as of November 14, 2009. The agency therefore warns consumers to purchase only CE marked fetal monitors for home use. Examples of these products are medical grade ultrasound Doppler devices and the Summer Infant Prenatal Listening Device. Also cited are opinions by medical professionals.
