Abstract

The article discusses research on the seeding of Earth with cyanide from comet and asteroid collisions. It references a study by Seiji Sugita of the University of Tokyo in Japan, and Peter Schultz of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, published in a 2009 issue of the journal "Geophysical Research Letters." To prove the hypothesis that life on Earth was triggered by cyanide seeding, the researchers fired projectiles made of organic material at metal targets at up to six kilometers per second.
