Abstract

The article discusses how the federal criminal cases involving individuals from Detroit, Michigan led to a better understanding and improvement of the Nevada gaming regulation and interpretation of the casino gaming U.S. federal laws. It cites the purchase and sale of the Edgewater, Fremont, Frontier and Aladdin casinos by individuals from Detroit as one incident which raised awareness on a Nevada gaming law that requires the suitability casino owners or potential owners. One such individual is Buster Merrell who serves as a janitor in a gaming house.
