Abstract: Water promotes hydrothiolation of unactivated alkynes efficiently without any catalyst or additive. The reaction at room temperature furnishes vinyl sulfides with high regioselectivity via anti-Markovnikov addition. The terminal alkynes provide dithiolanes at 80 °C by bis-addition.
