Abstract
- The article reports on the plan of the U.S. Department of Labor in October 2009 to heighten its oversight of all state industrial safety programs. Such move comes after labor unions and senior congressional Democrats demand for a tough response from the Nevada government to 12 construction fatalities in the Las Vegas Strip between December 2006 and June 2008. States are being urged by the federal government to implement their own Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) plans.
