Abstract

Examines root nitrate absorption in tomato plants under steady state conditions in the presence and absence of ammonia. High rate of nitrate absorption by plants grown under a low-salt regime; Gradual increase of proton efflux under ammonia exposure; Immediate decrease of net potassium ion absorption following first exposure to ammonia.
