Abstract: The article focuses on job statistics for librarians in 2008 and forecasts for 2009. In 2008, there was a decrease in salaries, a decline in the overall number of full-time positions and an increase in part-time jobs and unemployment. Predictions are for a depressed job market for library school graduates in 2009 with hiring freezes and budget cuts across all types of libraries and information agencies. Statistics on minority employees, regional salaries and academic job growth are presented.
