Abstract
- The author discusses how Missouri cut junk lawsuits to cut costs, create jobs and increase the quality of health care under his term as governor. He describes the disadvantages of the tactic called venue-shopping that involves shifting a case to a friendly court regardless of where the injury occurred. He enumerates several actions taken to counter problems associated with junk lawsuits, such as putting a 350,000 U.S. dollar cap on noneconomic damages. He also offers an overview of the tort reform in Missouri.
